Philodendron Erubescens has a few different names depending on its leaf shape, colouration & what planet its from. We chose 'Rubra' which basically means red. The emerging leaves are varying colours of yellow, red, burgundy, brown, green, hardening off as green on the upper side & flush red/burgundy on the underside. This is another great philodendron to observe as each new leaf unfurls. Also its striking bright red stem & petioles are a beauty too. But what really stands out with this gem is its bright red spathe & pure white spadix when in inflorescence.
Philodendron species are considered to be quite morphologically variable (variable in physical form, e.g. leaf shape, and external structure of the plant). This makes for interesting observations as the plant matures and each new leaf unfurls. Slide through the photos to see some of the variations.
For best growing conditions keep in bright, indirect lighting. Direct sunlight will burn the foliage. Will tolerate partial shade. Prefers moist soil.
To keep leaves looking lush, gently wipe with a damp cloth.
Philodendron plants are not just decorative, they have the ability to cleanse the air you breathe and act as anti-pollutant
